What to wear on your family photo session

So you booked your session,...now its game on to pick the right clothing. Possibilities are endless, but not to worry with these simple tips....

Coordinate, but not too matchy.

Choose colors that compliment each other and patterns that work well together. Think warm or cool tones, and then accent with little touches by adding layers and texture for detail and style. Neutral tones are safe for the soft look, but use strong colors to add a more moody bold look. Deep reds, dark greens will create richness, or consider some glitter, to add extra sparkle when that light hits just right. Glitter is always fun to evoke celebration.

Moms dress it up!

Moms feel free to dress it up and feel your most beautiful. How often do you have the opportunity to be photographed. Lets face it, you are most likely the family photographer capturing your kids on the daily, so take this opportunity to feel your best. Pretty flowy dresses and skirts will enhance the feel of your photos dramatically. But, if you are most comfortable in jeans and keeping it casual, that works too. The beauty is really to capture your style, but most important the connection with your family and kids.

What to avoid.

Avoid neon colors, branding logos, and large bold/plaid or contrasted stripes. This is to limit distractions in your images, and neon will create skin tone/color cast issues.

If you love white, opt for off white or ivory instead.
